A Letter from the President I hope this email finds you well! Fall is a busy time at the LSI. We have the Lupus Charity Runners team in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon coming up on October 13th, 2024. This year, we have 36 team members who have signed up to run 26.2 miles to raise awareness and funds for lupus and the LSI. Every year this team gets bigger and we are honored by so many runners who come out to run year after year. If you are interested in volunteering at this year’s CHEER STATION on race day, we can definitely use your help. It’s an early morning and a great day. Everyone who has come out has had a great time and been inspired by our runners. If you’re interested in helping out, please contact Mary. We’re also working with Governors State University on their Run, Walk and Roll event on October 27th. This annual event will have a DJ, food trucks, kids activities – including face painting – and much more! Best part is that LSI participants get $10 off by using the lupussociety2024 discount code. Funds raised go directly to the LSI! Our last live event of the year is the annual Rush Lupus Clinic & LSI Educational Event on December 7, 2024. This event features three presentations and a panel discussion with the Rush Lupus Clinic Doctors. And, like all of LSI’s events, this event is free and open to the public. The event will open for registrations shortly. It’s hard to believe another Lupus Walk season is behind us – we had luck with the weather at both of our events. The Western Suburbs Lupus Walk on August 10th was a great success – bringing out over 300 participants. The Chicago Lupus Walk & Fun Run on September 15th brought out hundreds Our new location in Grant Park was a huge success. If you were able to make it, we hope you had as good a time as we did! This last week we hosted our Spanish Language Educational Event at Northwestern Medicine. Thanks to everyone at Northwestern for making this event happen, Especially Dr. Irene Blanco, Dani Lieggi and Charon Gladfelter. The presenters include Dr. Blanco, Dr. Juan Carlos Caicedo and Dr. Luisa Safar Boueri.
