Speaking of lupus and heart, the 2021 Bank of America Chicago Marathon Lupus Charity Runners team was awe inspiring on October 10th.  This was the first year back after COVID-19 caused the cancellation of the 2020 event.

As is true every year, we are so proud of all of our runners.  We're always honored when we have repeat team members and we did this year as well.

We are recruiting runners for the 2022 Chicago Marathon right now.  If you are interested, please contact mary@lupusil.org or click here.

Funds raised from all of LSI's events go to our mission in Illinois.  Thanks to YOU we are able to provide educational events at no cost to participants.  Thanks to YOU we are able to provide support to the lupus community when they have nowhere else to turn.  THANK YOU!.

Together we make a difference

LUPUS RESEARCH UPDATE

Dr. Robert Katz

LUPUS AND ANXIETY & DEPRESSION
By Dr. Robert Katz

The effects of exercise intervention on health-related quality of life in patients with systemic lupus in the journal Healthcare.

In this study, 1,058 articles were reviewed, and nine of them discussed systemic lupus and exercise. Five of them were randomized controlled trials, which is the best form of reliable research. The things that were positive were that exercise intervention compared to usual care might be able to improve the physical functioning and health-related quality of life in patients with lupus.

Fatigue & Lupus

A major problem for people living with lupus is fatigue – chronic debilitating fatigue that significantly decreases quality of life and increases the risk of work disability.

How does someone manage fatigue?  Finding strategies that work for you and for lupus patients in general is the purpose of the Lupus Intervention Fatigue Trial (LIFT).
