November 2025

A Letter from the President

I hope this email finds you well.

Happy Thanksgiving!  As we get ready to celebrate this holiday dedicated to expressions of gratitude, we want to thank you, the lupus community, for your support.  Since 1973, the lupus community has supported the LSI and in doing so supported thousands living with lupus.  Thank you!

GivingTuesday is coming up on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.  GivingTuesday was created to invite people to give back to their communities.  After Thanksgiving, After the shopping bonanza's of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, GivingTuesday was developed to remember we're a part of a community and inspire acts of kindness.

To celebrate GivingTuesday, we will be posting facts about how LSI serves the lupus community.  We encourage you to share and like the facts with your community.  Everyone who donates to the GivingTuesday campaign we are running will be thanked on social media.  To donate to that campaign, click here.

The LSI 2026 events calendar is getting put together and we can announce that our first webinar will be on January 28th at 6pm.  The event will be presented by Dr. Angela Crowley.  More details are coming soon.

The 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon team is coming together.  We still have guaranteed spots available if you are interested.  If you've ever considered running a marathon, give us a call and hear about our team. As a Lupus Charity Runner, you get training to help you complete the marathon safely. contact Mary or Lisa with any questions.

If you haven't checked out our social media pages lately, make sure you do.  We're posting lupus news with a comment from Dr. Katz, LSI's Board Chair and Medical Advisory Board Chair.  Be sure to Like and Share our posts.

We also need to thank our lupus champions.  Support Group Leader Mari Gonzalez hosted her annual Friendsgiving and shared some photos and the UIC Fraternity Theta Lambda Beta also made lupus awareness a priority by setting up a table on campus.

We are thankful to all of them and to you.

Together, we make a difference.
