July 2024

A Letter from the President

I hope this email finds you well!

We have to start with the BIGGEST news!

The Western Suburbs Lupus Walk Ambassador this year is

WNBA Chicago Sky star IZZY HARRISON!

We are so excited that Izzy and the Chicago Sky will be at the event this year.  Izzy has a close, personal connection to lupus and we are excited to welcome her to our community!

The Chicago Sky will be at both the Western Suburbs & Chicago Lupus Walks but Izzy will only be able to attend the Western Suburbs.  We look forward to a great event and hope you can join us.

In other exciting news, tonight is LSI night at the Main Street Nights in Downtown Park Forest.  Be sure to come out and celebrate.  The event is FREE and lupus awareness will be a priority.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Volunteers make lives better by bringing awareness to their communities and raising funds for our mission.  Below we highlight Quintae Paxton's event.  Quintae was diagnosed at the end of last year and has already embraced lupus awareness!

We highlight the Glenview Support Group and its leader, Chris. In June the group met in person and decided to dedicate some of their time to decorating butterflies.  What a beautiful idea!

LSI's Support Group Leaders are amazing and we are so grateful to have them as part of our lupus family.  If you're interested in finding out more about support groups, contact lisa@lupusil.org.

we look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events.

Together we make a difference.

Mary

A major problem for people living with lupus is fatigue – chronic debilitating fatigue that significantly decreases quality of life and increases the risk of work disability.

How does someone manage fatigue?  Finding strategies that work for you and for lupus patients in general is the purpose of the Lupus Intervention Fatigue Trial (LIFT).
