A Letter from the President I hope this email finds you well! Labor Day is Monday and it's hard to believe fall is coming. Kids are back at school and the weather is cooling off. Time is flying by and LSI is gearing up for fall! Before we get to what's coming up, let's celebrate the 2025 Lupus Walk! On August 9th, over 400 people came out to support the lupus community and the LSI. The largest walk since COVID-19 forced cancellations. The event brought in almost $60,000 for our mission in Illinois. You can read more about the walk and see the first batch of photos from the event in this enewsletter. We've already begun planning the 2026 Lupus Walk. If you're interested in joining the committee to help make this annual event even better, contact lisa@lupusil.org. Funds raised at the walk go directly towards providing services at no cost to those in need, including educational events, like the upcoming Spanish Language Webinar on September 18, 2025. The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is coming up on October 12th. LSI has had a team in the Chicago Marathon since 2007. This year's team has over 40 runners who have already raised over $54,000. Most of our runners have lupus or care about someone with lupus. One of our runners, has shared the story of her connection to lupus. If you get a chance to read Kristin's story, I know you'll understand why this team is so special. You can find Kristin's page here - and the event's team page is here. LSI is happy to partner with Governors State University this fall on their Jaguar Run! LSI runners get a special $10 discount. Similar to the LSI walks, registered participants receive a t-shirt and giveaways on race day. There are special prizes and contests for registered participants too. Register today, and don't forget to use the discount code: lupusil. There is a lot going on at the LSI. If you aren't signed up for our Social Media accounts, now's the time. We're increasing and diversifying our content. Check it out and be sure to LIKE and SHARE the content to increase lupus awareness. Together, we make a difference. Mary |
