Dear Friend, Thank you again for signing the Lupus First HCQ petition. The petition was begun in response to lupus patients' inability to get prescriptions filled due to hoarding of a drug with anecdotal evidence of effectiveness in COVID-19. In fact, at least one insurance company notified a patient that they may not get their 90 day supply and to discuss alternative medications with their doctor. Asking people with a chronic, potentially life threatening disease at high risk for COVID-19 to alter their medication is irresponsible, not to mention unnecessary. Lupus patients are not the only patients in need of this drug. Other rheumatic diseases will benefit from the emergency rule. It's important to note that we are not asking HCQ NOT be used in a hospital or research setting. We are only asking the unnecessary hoarding of the disease stop. We have over 2,000 signatures and our hope is to have 5,000 signatures to present to Governor Pritzker. Please forward the petition to everyone you know. Together we make a difference. Take care and stay safe, Mary | |
